Dr. Edison de Mello is the founder and the Chief Medical Officer of The Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine in Santa Monica, California. He is a Board-Certified Integrative Physician and also a licensed psychotherapist. Dr. de Mello's journey in integrative medicine began with his grandmother, who instilled in him a deep appreciation for holistic healing practices from an early age. His PhD dissertation, "Gut Feelings – A Psychosocial Approach to Gastrointestinal Illness," laid the foundation for his vision of a center where psychology would be seamlessly integrated with Western and Eastern medicines. This vision led to the establishment of the de Mello Institute in 1996, aimed at providing safe and complementary healthcare while prioritizing emotional and spiritual well-being. Dr. de Mello furthered his medical training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he immersed himself in the integration of complementary medicine into Family Medicine practice. Inspired by his grandmother's compassionate approach to healing, Dr. de Mello expanded his endeavors by founding the Akasha Center for Integrative Medicine, dedicated to holistic care and patient-centered healing.
